Although there are several treatments to stop the occurrence of acne, it still depends on an individual’s condition. If your acne problems are in between mild and moderate then it is easy to cure. But if you have a cystic acne which has one or more large, painful, and red cysts on the surface of your skin then it can be more challenging.

5 Acne Treatments Don’ts

Whether it is occasional or chronic, acne happens to all of us. We are all battling with this type of problem that usually leads us to many facts, half-truths, myths, concepts, and all lies when it comes to acne treatments. It is hard to determine what will work and what will not. So to give you tips, here are some acne treatments you should never do.

1.    Don’t Squeeze Your Pimples

When you see your pimple and you just can’t resist to pop it, it is best if you do everything not to. Squeezing them can take a longer time to heal. You also increase the risk of infection and scarring. Also, an opened pimple is hard to cover with makeups because it is a ragged surface.

2.    Don’t Apply Toothpaste

Toothpaste is meant to clean your teeth not your acne. Although some ingredients in toothpaste can help dry out pimples, it can also trigger new pimples to occur. Not to mention, the fluoride and whitening element of the toothpaste can cause an allergic reaction to the skin.

3.    Don’t Apply Crushed Aspirin

Someone might suggest using crushed aspirin paste as a home remedy for acne. Even if aspirin is related to salicylic acid, this is made especially for the skin. Applying a purely crushed aspirin paste can irritate your skin.

4.    Don’t Get A Facial For An Easy Fix

Facial, light chemical peels and other spa treatment can improve acne problems. But the miracle does not happen overnight. It might take weeks, months, or several sessions before you achieve your desired look. Rushing your skin with different methods and medication can worsen your skin issue.

5.    Don’t Hide It With Accessories

If your pimples can be hidden using a cap, headband, or other accessories, it can be tempting to use it every time you have acne. It might be a quick fix to your problem but in return, the heat and friction you can just worsen your acne problem.

Different Acne Types

It is important that you know what type of acne you have before treating them. So here are the distinct acne types:

  • Hormonal – When there is an imbalance in the hormones such as androgens and estrogens. It stimulated the skin cells to produce more oil that clogs the pores, inflammation, and acne. And along with dairy products, carbohydrates, and foods, it can increase insulin levels.
